Adorn Magazine, Summer '07 Issue

On the cover of the Summer '07 issue of Adorn Magazine there is a woman wearing a necklace made out of buttons that have been strung together with wire. I mimicked the idea with some Making Memories buttons and craft wire ... here's the result:

I used 28 gauge craft wire to build the necklace, then used a little bit on each end to connect it to a piece of chain. There's a small hook and eye clasp on the back.

Red Envelope Knock-Off

After thumbing through a Red Envelope catalog, Candice was inspired by a pearl necklace and created something very similar using sterling silver chain, a closed jump ring, freshwater pearls and 24 gauge wire. (The Red Envelope version is on top, Candice's version is on the bottom.)

Noro Silk Garden Shawl

Candice was inspired by a striped shawl that Renee had made using the Noro yarn, so she whipped up this one using 3 skeins of the Noro Silk Garden yarn and 24" size 10 circular needles. The yarn naturally stripes and since it's just the knit stitch all around, it automatically does the stockinette stitch giving the edges a natural rolling effect. Since she didn't decrease as much as she would've liked to, she used black satin ribbon along the top to create a cinch tie. This one was done casting on 200 stitches, but you can alter the number based on how wide you want to make it and depending on the type of yarn used.
